Well you know I do really love a bit of snow, I think it’s the novelty factor. So far on our trip Lebanon, France and London have all thrown us a bit of a snow shower, much to our (my) amusement, but Bucharest you take the snow ball......you have totally outdone yourself……I mean really, the coldest winter since 1954 and snow up to our eyeballs, all just in time for our short visit.

I’m actually a little surprised we even made it here, I’m not quite sure how the train managed to push its way through from Budapest last night, although I think the teams of men working hard with shovels may have helped. Trying to walk from the station to our Hostel with a pack on our back took on a whole new meaning, the city looking almost apocalyptic, with the drunken slippery stagger of the people adding to the mood. We weren’t too surprised when the hostel owner told us that this amount of snow is not so normal and this is the worst winter in a while. They politely smiled when we told them we planned on taking the train tomorrow to Istanbul…..”I’m not sure this will be possible….Bulgaria is closed and the train must go through Bulgaria”!!

PS. Alex would like me to add that she does not share my extreme enthusiasm for the snow. Beautiful as it is, it's very difficult to enjoy it when it's -180C, every part of your body is frozen and you've lost all feeling in your face.....

I won't complain about the rainy summer in Sydney any more!
Stay warm and eat lots of chocolate.

Looks fantastic - I hope you made it through Bulgaria or at least regained some feeling in your face. Bet you are missing your bikes! Lots of love xx
