Today was a long but very good day. I got at 6 to catch a bus to San Diego - I had a 30mins stopover in Downtown LA. The journey San Diego was around 3 hours which means I arrived at 11am. The plan was to get across the Mexican border to Tijuana as quickly as possible but when I asked one of the police officers it did not seem that straight forward. According to him, I had to take the San Diego Trolley (45mins), cross the border and then get a bus to Tijuana. That did not sound to good as I was very limited in terms of time.

I decided to get to the border anyway and see what happens - Worst case scenario I would simply cross the border and come back. To my surprise it was free to cross the border when I was told it would be $20 and even better the centre of Tijuana was only 15mins walk from the border - Happy days!!

I had a walk around and it was pretty cool to be in Mexico - it is a radical change from the US side. Straight away you feel in Mexico but I think they actually put it on for tourists. I also went to the wax museum there which is probably the smallest in the world and the statues do not really resemble the original people but it was fun to do it anyway.

On the way back the border crossing is much busier and I even saw a shackled and handcuffed guy being brought back to Mexico by the Homeland Security Officers. At this moment in time there is a bit of tension between the US and Mexico about immigration laws.

Then I headed for San Diego City centre. Sand Diego is a really nice coastal city but I can see it would have the potential to be a bit boring. I only had 2 to 3 hours so I went to the main shopping centre then to the Seaport Village which is a reconstruction of a 19th century village. I then jumped on the Trolley again to go the Old Town. I did not know what to expect but just like Seaport Village, it is the reconstruction of a 19th century town - It might be a renovated original I am not too sure.

On the Trolley back to the City centre, a couple, who had just been stopped by the police sat next to me. And oh my god they were rough - the woman was swearing aggressively and the guy was just completely destroyed by drugs - prescription drug according to their conversation. They were pretty acting and talking like 15 year old kids. She even grabbed her boobs at one point saying "that's what I should have done to the officer, fucking looser". The guy then started to play the flute and the funny thing was that on my way out I actually fell on the guy as the train moved!!! He was really nice about it to be honest.

It was then time to get back on the bus to LA. The way back was quicker but the wait for my connection in Downtown LA was longer so I arrived back at the hostel at around 11pm - just in time to go to bed.
