Arrived in Cape Town on time and my first goal was to get to the hotel as cheaply as possible. A local told me it should be around 50-60 Rand. I found a company Randy's Tours (www.randystours.com), right in front of the arrival doors that would take me for 160. After refusing because of what the local had told me I went on to ask a normal cabby and, quite frankly, I don’t think she ever took a taxi because a normal taxi would charge 250 (without bartering).

I went back to Randy’s Tours and managed to team up with an Indian fellow from Mumbai and ended up paying 90 Rand. There were actually 6 of us in the minivan. The driver was very nice fellow and gave us a sort of guided tour on the way and he dropped me off right to my door.

The Hostel The Backpack is in excellent condition. In fact I learnt later that it won the award of third best Hostel in the whole of Africa according to Hostelworld.com. My room has 4 beds and there were a girl from Malaysia, who lives in London and study Medicine and a bit later came in John from South West England, who had been on a road trip from Nairobi and was going back to the UK the next day.

I was extremely shattered and could not get hold of Tamo, Lisenka’s friend so I decided to stay in the Hostel as they were having a barbecue – 95 Rand – not so bad. I ended up spending the meal  with the girl from Malaysia (Can’t remember her name unfortunately!!!) and then went off to bed.
