Well, i´ve made it to Quito, my first stop in South America and the beginning of the second part of my adventure. If that doesn´t sound like a big deal then let me just fill you in on the journey I embarked upon to get here. It went as follows: Denpasar-Sydney-Auckland-Santiago-Lima-Quito. I think i was in transit for about 48hrs but crossing the international dateline has left me a little confused.
My home the next 4 weeks is with Ana, Alfonso and their son Luis Alberto while I try and do a crash course in Spanish. If I can judge my temporary family after 2 days they seem absolutely lovely. It will be a nice change to hotels and hostels. Ana sends me off with my packed lunch every day and I have my own little bedroom next to a german girl with a very large facial mole (moley moley) who seems nice enough although a little shy and dare I say very German.
Quito I think will be a very interesting city. Located on the base mountians it has a stunning setting. It is high up so colder, bringing me back to reality after so long on +30 degrees for the last 5 months. I am looking forward to being in one place for a few weeks, although I will travel at weekends as the coast, moutains and jungle none of which are too far in either direction. Ecuador, it seems, has everything.
