Entered into Singapore via the causeway that links it to mainland Malaysia. Everyone I had met so far had a different opinion of Singapore so I was interested to see it for myself.  I was delighted that I would be staying with family during this part of my trip.  Thank you again Philip and Hilary for letting me stay with you, your lovely children in your gorgeous home.

I spent 2 days walking through Singapore, the city divided up into ethic quarters, the colonial distric, the CBD and shopping.  I found it an incredibly interesting place, not least that it is a complete melting pot of cultures that all happily live side by side.  Singapore might not be everyones cup of tea but it sets a pretty good example to more or less every other major city of the world.

The colonial distric, typified by Raffles Hotel is like stepping back in time, with the skyscrapers of the CBD towers up as a backdrop.  If you ever go to Singapore on a work jolly, or just work, try and wangle to stay at the Fullerton Hotel, incredibly impressive.  It opitomizes the old and the new Singapore.
