Java - South coast on the east of the island: Priggi

The Lonely Planet is a great book to have when in a foreign country. It has helped us out on many occasions, however, the writers do have the tendency to make a destination sound a whole lot more appealing than it ever could be. Priggi was a good example of this. Just getting there involved several changes of bus, and since we were travelling budget, we were taking the local buses. These local buses often will not leave the station until they are full, or crawl along the roads extremely slowly in the hope of attracting a fare or two. We got quite used to this, but in high humidity and taxing conditions, a day of travelling in this fashion can really take it out of you. A six, seven, or even eight hour journey was not unusual. Boy it was sticky. Anyhow, Priggi was a proper back-water and took some effort to reach. We spent one night and left the following day. It was a pretty place, but had little for us to do beyond dodging ravenous gangs of mossies. What a shame.
