Hello Friends and Family,

Alex and I have just returned from 31 days around the world for the holidays and some stops at Motorola Plants for Alex.

Israel was our first destination. We arrived in Tel Aviv late on Monday Dec 12 and checked in to the Sheraton on the Beach. The food and service were fantastic. Especially the selection of cheeses, wines, teas, and fresh bakery items. We ate well;-) We were up early the next morning, Tues Dec 13, to see the sun rise on the beach and amazed to see many people swimming laps in the Mediterranean Sea. The temp was around 60F the entire time and the sky was breathtaking. Clear and sunny during the day. We met our first great tour guide at 7:30 a.m. to see Jerusalem. We couldn't wait and it was much more than we expected. You'll see the photos, but you must go there some day soon. It's the most amazing city we've seen.

Next day, Wed Dec 15, Alex was off to the Motorola plant for meetings and I set off on my next guided tour to the Dead Sea (had to get some of that mud on me)and the dessert mountain top castle of King Herod in Massada. The tours cost about $75 US for leave at 7:30 a.m. and return by 6 p.m. a very nice private tour for up 10 people.

The beaches were very similar to that on Ft. Lauderdale and the city was like a small city in the US but much more densely populated. Everywhere you look there were military dressed citizens from ages 18 to 25 of whom are required to serve; 2 years for the women and 3 years for the men. Many continue with a military career.

I would love to visit again. We felt safe and had a enchanting time. Check out the photos of our time and we'll see you on the next leg of the trip...Frankfurt Germany! April and Alex
