Hello Again! It's Saturday Pre Fourth for the States.

While most of you are preparing for a 4th of July Independence Day cookout, we spent the day visiting a Buddist Temple here in Penang. Yes, we're in town for the weekend and making the best of every moment. We also wish that we could celebrate with you;-) and hope you had a fun, safe holiday.

Visiting the Temple is not what we originally planned to do for this afternoon. Actually....last night we went to The Royal Australian Air Force Ball. Wow! That was some special night for us; Alex in his new tuxedo made especially for him in only one week and me in a red vintage gown made at the Waldorf Astoria in the 1960s. So you can just imagine that we celebrated at the Ball just a little too much to follow our original plans of running and hiking a four hour hash on the mountain. I'm sure the hash club was fine without us, and we are feeling better this evening since resting.

More about our trip to the Ball later in another TravelPod Entry. We are waiting to receive all of the photos taken at the Ball from our friends in the Australian Air Force. You are going to love seeing all those men in uniform...well, at least the ladies will;-)

Never a dull moment here in Penang or a moment with nothing to explore. Back to our tour today of the Kek Lok Si Buddist Temple. The Temple is located at the top of one of many mountain here and there is an amazing bronze statue at the top of the Temple that is seven stories high. Also, the other parts of the Temple are a sight to be seen. Kek Lok Si is a must see when you come to Pilau Pinang (Island of Penang).

We can barely see the Grand Bronze Lady, Kuan Yin from our Balcony, we have to lean over the front balcony, but I get a weak stomach leaning over the rail to see her clearly;-) Alex has no problem hanging of the 32nd story balcony; I DO! We can see her better from our bedroom views.

I hope you enjoy the photos and we look forward to taking you to see the beautiful bronze lady when you visit us:-) Catch that flight! We're waiting. Cheerio! Ah! Don't say that, too much Cheerio already. Ciao! That's better..until the next entry. Alex and April
