Napier suffered a devastating earthquake in 1931, after which most of the town had to be rebuilt. It was done in an Art Deco style and Napier is now well known for having one of the largest concentrations of Art Deco style buildings in the World!
It is also well known for it's vineyards...! So we set out on a wine tasting day... but don't worry there was no drink driving involved, well not really... we hired bikes and cycled our way around a couple of winery's! It was a very sunny day, and we were determined to find a white wine that we liked... and we did! We fell in love with Mission Estates Reisling (see if you can get it in the supermarket back home!) we also tried a few reds, Malbecs, Pinot Noirs and one which you can only get at Church Road Winery in New Zealand, but I can't remember its name!! After quite a few glasses of wine and several kilometres my bum started to ache and cycling was becoming a bit of a task... so we headed for the marina and cycled back to the campsite on the coastal track!
Paul later surprised me in Wellington by buying me a bottle of the mission estate reisling!! We shared it with Danny and Lauren when we went out for dinner!
The day we were due to leave Napier, the weather finally broke and we woke up to a very wet tent and a very grey sky... the rain mac got put to good use for one of the first times since we left home!
Oh and I almost forgot... I beat Paul at mini golf by 1 point!! See the evidence on the photos!! : )

Ha ha!! Well done Alex for beating Paul at mini-golf!! Don't worry, I will beat him at 'proper' golf when he gets back!!!!
I like the sound of the wine-tasting! I will look for that wine when I go shopping today. I bet it costs a lot more here!!
You both look fit and healthy and taking living in a tent in your strides! Well done!
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Love to you both xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sat here reading your latest blog with a glass of Wairau Cove Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc from the south islands of NZ, beautiful wine. Looking at your piccies though I think that I'd enjoy it even better sat looking at that wonderful countryside and blue skies. Glad to hear your expanding your taste buds away from that sweet rose you like, maybe when you get back we can sit down and enjoy a glass of white together. Love you both xxxx
I nearly bought a New Zealand White wine at the supermarket today but I couldn't remember the name!! It wasn't right though! Maybe better luck next time!!
