Hi y'all,

I'm sorry that I have kept you all waiting for over a week since my last entry. Nevertheless I shouldn't regret that I haven't had the time to write you because although it were busy weeks, it was worth it all.

During the last weeks I got to know my fellow international students at the British Columbia Institute of technology. Our international group turns out to be a mishmash of different nationalities and backgrounds. Among others I have had the chance to hang out with Germans, Austrians, people from France, fellow Belgian students and so on ...   I have met both people who are two years younger as well as people of the age of 25, people who are more experienced in living and/or studying abroad than I am and students with different visions and ideas

Over the past two weeks we have had the time to do some sightseeing together which resulted so far in visiting Stanley Park and the Capilano Suspension Bridge, where we could witness Canadian nature in all of its' beauty, in getting an introduction to British Columbia's history in the Burnaby Heritage Village and in making some nightly trips to Downtown Vancouver in order to explore the Canadian drinking culture. All pretty cool!

However nothing really came close to BCIT's internationalisation weekend on Vancouver Island, during which we stayed for 3 days in Victoria, the capital city of the state British Columbia. The weekend offered a perfect combination between pleasure and the obligate culture and sightseeing that beautiful Victoria has to offer: an atmosphere during which it was pleasant to get to know each other.

Climax of this trip was definitely the whale-watching. What started of as a sunny afternoon when we left Victoria's harbor on a boat, resulted in watching orcas (the so-called killer whales) appearing above the water from time to time during a gorgeous sunset. Highly recommended!

Greetings,

Alessandro
