Welcome to Macleay Island
The cats are still totally traumatised and won't leave the house. Chyna has ventured down the back steps and into the shed whilst I was there. But at the first sign of any strange noise, she was back, into the house and under the bed. Teisa the Brave has got down the steps before bolting back inside. (This continues still, after a week almost, despite us leaving a door open all day)
We in the meantime have been busy. We have had our lawns mowed again at Betty Street, which look wonderful. We are in the process of getting Timothy Street slashed ... there are too many small shrub to mow it but we need to get rid of them before they become trees and we are no longer allowed to remove them.
We have had the roof fixed where it leaked and are currently trying to organise a door for the bathroom. The stove ... an old GEC Made in England model .. might look like an antique but it works wonderfully. I have cleaned out the shed and got it ready for our boxes which arrive next week. The old fridge we had bought for $60 is a gem, so we are doing well.
Our new home at Noon-Muckle
And the big news is that we have bought another house!!! Yes, we now own 4 blocks and 2 houses on the island. Crazy, isn't it? We had been talking on the way over about how long we could live in La Boite whilst our house on the waterfront was built and came to the conclusion that we were better to buy a house in the meantime and postpone building for a year or two.
On arrival, we contacted Ray White and inspected several homes before we saw 29 Noon-Muckle Street. What a beauty!! Owner built, it's 2 story, 3 brm, 3 bathrooms with an enormous lounge/dining/kitchen plus outside deck for entertaining. Did I hear somebody say not our scene, hahahah? It doesn't have wonderful, wonderful water views but it does have some from the upstairs balcony.
We plan to use the front master bedroom as our office and make the 2nd bedroom the master bedroom ...  yeah!!! And the office has the small ensuite intended for the master brm. The third brm downstairs is enormous, so we will probably divide it into two rooms. The bathroom downstairs is part of the laundry but has a good shower and toilet, just the wash basin is in the laundry.
It's a small block but very pretty and beautifully landscaped. Lots of tropical plants etc. And there are some magnificent gums in neighbouring blocks. So, so pretty!!!
So soon we will be open for business as far as visitors are concerned!!! Bookings taken, first come, first served, with the exception of Hockey Vets when it's all for one, one for all, sleep on the floor if need be. J
