The name of Fifty Thousand Silver Dollars is just a figure speech. It is now well over sixty thousand dollars and counting. In this place, people can have their name engraved forever for each coin that is put up at a small cost of a couple of dollars. Many couples in their honey moon , anniversaries, birthdays etc. and at a small cost of a couple of dollars.
It closes for a week every January and the coins are hoisted and put in place. Now they are hanging them on the roof. An structural engineer is called in to ensure that the structure can support the weight.
It is impressive to see and a tremendous investment, on the walls, to say the least. Some coins are worth several thousand dollars and most, hundreds of dollars. Imagine the insurance as well as the safety precautions that must be in place.
