I flew out of Krabi this afternoon on a short jaunt to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (a.k.a. KL).  The airport in KL is about an hour's drive from the city centre so I didn't get to see the famous KL Tower or Petronas Twin Towers from the air, but they are so amazing to see as you approach the city!

I can't adequately explain how amazing the location of my hotel is!  Let me say, I've been checked in for a couple of hours now and I don't think I've been able to get my jaw closed from my reaction to the view from my room and the surrounding area.  I am absolutely, smack-dab in the dead centre of the most happening intersection in the entire city of KL!  It is like being in the middle of Times Square, Piccadilly Circus and the Las Vegas Strip all rolled up in one (or on University and Grafton in Charlottetown).  I am apparently in the centre of what is called the "Golden Triangle" which is the centre of shopping,, restaurants and transportation in the middle of the city.  There are no less than SEVEN high end shopping malls all around me - yes, I said SEVEN!  I walk out my door and about 10 steps away is the entrance to one mall and then on the other side of the main door of the hotel is another - they are everywhere and the whole main street that I am on has one high end store after another - Burberry's, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren - it's unbelievable.

The view directly in front of me as I look out my window is the KL Tower, which is one of the iconic towers in the city and is just slightly shorter I believe than the famous Petronas Towers.  Both the KL Tower and the Petronas Towers are a short walk away - both less than kilometre from my hotel.  At night, the stores and billboards and skyscrapers all light up around me and I can hear Christmas carols playing outside from the shops.  The KL Tower is sparkling and twinkling out my window.  It flashes on and off for a bit, then the lights start to twinkle up and down the base and around the circular structure on the top.  WOW!

The Piccolo Hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel and I have wifi, a flat screen TV with American channels (hello TLC and Cake Boss - it's been a while), a fridge, safe, separate shower and w.c. rooms, and the coolest fish poster right above my comfy bed.  The whole hotel has a marine theme with interesting sea life paintings and posters throughout the halls and rooms.  Oh, and Susan, there is a fish spa on the second floor of my hotel so I believe I will indulge to satisfy your curiosity :)  I will sacrifice my sole for the sake of scientific and cultural pursuits!

KL, you sure know how to wow a simple country girl - I am not in Kansas anymore!!!  This will be a fun 3 days :)
