Saturday.
Ugh I can't believe its time to go home already...the 2 weeks have seriously flown bye. Though I have to admit, it has been a great couple of weeks. I got to see some good friends, meet new ones, surf, eat, drink and really enjoy myself. I just really dont want to leave. Even though I like my job, I am not ready to go back to it yet...i need more time...lol.
Anyways, i got up early, sat on the patio and watched the waves, soaked in the sun, the ocean air and the laid back vibe. Oh I am going to miss this...
Smartly, I packed all my stuff yesterday, so I can just hang out this morning, catch up with people, and not be rushed. Mike is all hungover, he truly was muy baracho last night. Good for him, he had a rough couple days recently...almost dying and cutting his head open. Poor Grom.
Had some breakfast with the remaining crew, Mike, Dane, Eben, Noel and Janine. The Classic Pinto is never a bad choice.
Luckily I will be sharing the van and hanging at the airport with the Canadian girls, they are super sweet, I am sorry I didn't get to hang out with them more. This past week has been a whirlwind and my shoulder has really limited my surfing time. But they seem to have had a great time and got some great waves, plus they loved La Baula, we saw them last night, their 2nd time there. It is the place to be in Tamarindo!
I got to say good bye to everyone, though I didn't get to see Flash it is his day off, I know he was super proud of me as he kept telling me every time I saw him about my great session on Thursday. I am sure I will catch up with him on facebook.
It has been a great couple weeks, I really got lucky with my timing as I met some amazing people, WRSC is a true melting pot of amazing people who turn out to be great friends immediately, hence why i go back every year.
I was sad that Brendan couldnt make it do to medical issues, but he is doing ok. I was stoked to have Paul come down on short notice, that is Malibu Paul for my dedicated blog readers, it was good to see him. Mike is a cool kid, treat him like a little brother, I am surprised he even talks to me, let alone travel with me. But he is a great guy and I am lucky to have him as a friend. Plus he puts up with all my crap. The whole staff at WRSC continues to be awesome, they remember me and really make me feel like one of the family....a true bastard but a family member nonetheless. All my Tama friends, Julie, Nicole, Jenn, Melissa, Viviana, Rafa, Elizabeth, who go out drinking with me every night, make me feel like a local. I am truly lucky.
Anways, I just realized how emotional and nice I am being, I need to stop as my reputation as a badassmofo may get tarnished. All I have is my skreet cred!
So we load up the van after all our good bye's, Eben is a true friend, he is staying on in CR for another week and is going to help me get the dvd of me surfing. He is a super cool dude, Mr. Hollywood, can juggle, pretty much kick ass in all bar sports, sting pong, pool, he is just ok in fooz ball. Very cool cat...Noel and Janine were awesome, honeymooners from Denver, they fit in perfectly and instantly, I was sad I didnt get to hang with them more, need more people like them around. Chris and Kate from week 1 were so sweet and had more stoke than anyone, they did everything that could be done including having AC break-they never complained, got stung by a sting ray in the foot-never complained...they are just awesome people....The Tribe continues to grow. I love it!
Where was I...oh yeah, we load up the van, easy ride to the airport, of course i never shut up but the girls are super sweet and indulge my stories. We check in and meet them up in the only AC section of the airport, I get some fries and gatorade. The girls are true adventurers...they all get tacos from that food stand at Liberia airport. They are more ballsy than me. They even get, get this...a pork chop taco...yes, she thought it was pulled pork, but no...it was a pork chop in a tortilla...only in costa rica! I got a taste and it was good. So i am stating this in my blog, the pork chop taco is a must have. We all chatted a bit and headed into the gate. They took my advice and acted like they were shopping in the souvener shop, it also has ac, but is very small and crowded. Then of course the sky opens up and it starts pouring down rain as we have to walk out to the plane..good times.
We were delayed leaving as the ground crew used the wrong colored trash bags and had to replace them? Not sure I understand what all that means but we were delayed. I was concerned for the girls as they all had connecting flights so it was going to be tight. We were supposed to get in at 9ish pm but got in after 10pm. I must say that CLT Customs and Immigration are much improved as, we sped thru quite quickly and I got my bag within minutes...that never happens. But I paid the price as I had to wait for like 20 min for the Long Term Parking Shuttle to come and pick me up.
(Since I am writing this now, the Canadian girls got lucky as their flight to Toronto was delayed, so they made their flight, but DiAnna's bags were lost, as of recently she has not heard on when she will get them, Jennie from va, missed her flight and had to stay in a hotel, she is home safely...we are all facebook friends now..oh the wonders of social networking)
I was exhausted when i got home, i ate something, dont remember what, watched a couple episodes of the InBetweeners and went to bed after midnight.
The Vacation is over....booo to reality.
Thanks for reading and I will post some new pics soon.
