Digging out some of the fruit we found buried under the snow in Chinatown yesterday it was mango pancakes all round with a dollop of maple syrup just to Canadiafy them.

Still brass monkeys outside but clearer skies so we ventured out on a walk with me wearing more clothes than I have in a year. Toronto seems to have a good vibe about it that I was expecting more from Vancouver than here but never found, I'm sure the city would be a great place to call home in the summer and in the winter a good excuse to head to Fiji - all the way through till next summer.

Passing through an area called Cabbagetown we came to a farm in the middle of the city which seems to have just sprouted up around it. Sure it was a tourist thing but did have a few farm animals grazing in the fields among the snowmen. Skipping the Toronto public transport system which one little girl was taking being pulled along on a sled we headed to the invitingly named distillery district. A lack though of any fermented amber liquid was a little disappointing though but there was some interesting looking old buildings to gawk at having to settle instead on de-frosting in a little coffee place.

Our partial plan (at best) of crossing over to the islands just off Toronto's waterfront was scuppered with the boat's not sailing today, probably due to rouge icebergs, so we took a streetcar/tram ride through some of Toronto's other districts if just to escape the ball shrinking freezing cold for a while.

Backtracking through Chinatown again we shopped around for some food like stuff to make somtam or spicy papaya salad another Thai dish which was a specialty of the region where we both taught. Sitting eating it on the floor Thai style with the cats staring at us as if we had completely lost it we soon filled up on chillies to brave the roof top cold for a great Toronto night sky line view.
