With my brain cursing me I woke up to a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, not talking some digestives with bistro but a US cooked breakfast with American-style biscuits and a type of thick gravy made from, actually no idea but was just what was needed this morning.

Gary had admitted to being gay the night before and being a Sunday he usually goes to a church with one of only 3 ordained gay ministers in the US. Still trying to grapple with that he asked if I wanted to go along so we headed over to it's Hollywood location telling me along the way that it is also regularly attended by certain members of the LA movie community, both gay and straight.

We arrived to help pack some food bags for the homeless first before I spent some time talking to one guy there only afterwards being told by Gary he is in CSI: New York and member of the Academy and gets Oscar tickets every year. And also my new best friend.

The service was both colourful and enjoyable with some of the best singing I've ever heard in a church before, my contribution aside. After the service we drove down to Santa Monica Pier and Venice beach for a quick look albeit too quick for my liking as I wanted to wander around some more but Gary like almost every other American today wanted to rush home for one of the biggest TV events in the US, the Super Bowl.

Stopping on the way back for some essential fried chicken and hot dogs, all part of the Super Bowl experience I was told, we were soon in front of a suitably large TV eating some more junk food watching the game while I tried to refrain from mentioning the words 'big girls' and 'rugby'.
