Having to be up at 5am does at least have the advantage of seeing an amazing sunrise with nothing restricting your view all the way to the horizon.

That big sun was soon baking the arid landscape maybe explaining why the more kangaroos we saw were either hopping about being too hot to stand still on the scorching red sand or lying flat out in the shade.

We crossed over the Queensland - Northern Territory border in the morning with a 30 min time difference between them and getting another chance for a bushy - easier for guys than girls.

Only meeting one other vehicle on the road all morning you would be forgiving thinking that nothing lives out here but we soon stopped at another example of how much life there actually is at a 5 meter high termite mound easily dwarfing the smaller versions of them we'd been seeing up to now. Told you they weren't rocks.

A stop at Jervois station for lunch, picking up a Jack and Jill-aroo (cattle rangers) we also picked up an unwanted topping on most people's sarnies with a mini sand storm blowing in around us.

Finally arriving in Alice Springs and back in civilization I checked into Annie's Place hostel where we all joined up later on for one last meal with a Kangaroo Curry on the menu but unfortunately images of hopping Mary from yesterday kept lingering in my head. Stupid conscious.
