A curious trait I've noticed in a few places in S.E. Asia is the horizontal shower. Unlike your usual run of the mill angled down one these are 'special editions' that when attached to the holder on the wall sees the shower head sitting parallel to the user which combined with the oft shorter height of showers here gives them a clean neck and soaks the back of the cubicle and that's about it.

With only wanting a couple of the great little steamed stuffed buns usually available from most Chinese eateries I once again fell victim to the temptation of the dim sum breakfast with me again nodding like those little dogs in the rear windows of cars unable to stop it whenever the wheeled out another selection of nibbles.

Visited the Penang museum in the morning with knowing a little about the East India Company from uni lectures who once did a little business here spreading their globalization reach.

Checking out today's globalization I headed into the main shopping district of Georgetown but only really to take a bus to Penang Hill a short ride out of town offering great views over the surrounding area, or at least it would have had it not been a pea souper able to see only a few hundred meters. Still the funicular tram ride to the top of the 800m high was worth the trip giving some decent views along the way before the mist closed in.

Back at the hostel spent the evening talking, well more listening, to a Moroccan guy who had been here a few years ago and seemed to know a heck of a lot about Penang and Malaysia. For all I knew though he could have been making most of it up, spewing endless tales of imaginative waffle but at least it was entertaining waffle unlike those uni lectures.
