With the three of us sharing a room we were up early this morning even with the previous days fun to get some money exchanged with Cambodia, like Laos, accepting both it's own Riel currency and US dollars but with most prices being shown in the latter.

Mark knew a guy who was friends with his brother at university who owned a bar here so from knowing a guy who knows a guy who knows a guy we were treated to a great huge lunch for half price down by the river.

Filled up we headed over to the Royal Palace just a stones throw away taking a wander round admiring the decorative buildings with a little French influence evident in some of the styles. On the same site is also the Silver Pagoda which houses some national treasures including a standing Buddha statue encrusted with some 9,584 diamonds.

Suspiciously perhaps, we lost Mark right afterwards with both Shirly and I scouring the Palace grounds for him before giving up and guessing we would just meet him back at the guest house, or maybe on the fastest transport to the border.

The two of us walked down to the Independence Monument from here with the grassy area in front filled with more people flying kites than I'd seen in one place and not just kids either with seemingly people of every age having a go.

After meeting Mark back at the guest house, private jet held up I guess, Shirly and I went for some food at a little family run Vietnamese restaurant where you got one drink free with every two meals ordered, so we ordered four, and still for less price per person than a cheeseburger back home.

Mark had gone to meet his friend back at the pub so we arranged to meet him later at The Heart of Darkness club a Phnom Penh institution we were told, becoming the heart of the city's night life after 11pm.

After the unforgettable night we had there I'll just say that it lived up to it's reputation. ;-)
