Rolled into Pakse around 6am after one of the more comfortable bus journeys I have taken so far to then be blasted wide awake riding in what looked like the mangled remains of a crash between a motorbike and cyclo.

Arriving at the guesthouse I enquired about any trips running to the Bolaven Plateau today, a fertile area of plantations, forests and waterfalls as well as home to a number of Mon-Khmer ethnic groups as well as Lao coffee. Unfortunately not enough people had signed up for one which with a minimum of 4 people even when including myself still left...3 more to go. Ah well, don't like coffee much anyway.

Met a Danish guy also staying here for a night before heading south to the 4000 Islands area whose name I could never catch but sounded like tofu so that's what we'll use.

We went for a wander around the town with not a lot to see with Pakse being more of a transport hub to and from Thailand and to the south of the country. We did go investigate the local market though which was easily the liveliest place around town but smelled so much like a teacher's staff room with the amount of bags of tea and coffee sitting around.

Took an afternoon siesta (guess some of that Spanish rubbed off on me) before taking another walk in the evening (really not much else to do) and watched as a band of monks gave the local temple a new lick of paint - guess their robes make pretty good overalls.
