Spent today with two Japanese guys I met at the guesthouse who luckily spoke pretty good English and took me out on a tour of the area by car. I was glad to be to see the area with the freedom your own transport (or in this case Nojo's Nissan) gives you but also more glad of being given an English translation of a lot of the Japanese only sites.

Today was also looking much better on the weather front and after a winding drive up one of the near by roads we came to a fantastic view of Mt Fuji. There was still some mist circling around it but it cleared up just long enough to allow us a glimpse of the summit before being hidden again for the rest of the afternoon.

We stopped for lunch at a small shokudo restaurant but a few moments after sitting down Nojo and Nobuyori got up again and motioned for us to leave, it turns out the place was far too expensive which I would never have determined from the menu being completely in Kanjii, another plus to have your own personal Japanese tour guides for the day.

Nobuyori wanted to go to a traditional Japanese tea ceremony which again I'm glad I got the translation of as there was a lot of intricate procedure involved. We had to sit on the floor and were each given a some kind of sugary Japanese sweet beforehand to help with the drinking of the tea which was supposedly very bitter but to me tasted more like hot algae but I've never been much of a tea drinker anyway.

Nobuyori and Nojo took me back to the station for me to catch the train back to Tokyo, we swapped e-mail addresses (was the only way I was going to know how to spell their names for one thing) and I forgot to ask for one last translation before I left, "Please wake me up when reach Tokyo".
