Slept late, 8 AM, wow. After breakfast strolled to The Uffizi for our 11 AM reservation. Gave the guided tour as well as I could. Everyone has their own favorite. David liked The Lippi rooms which houses works of the father, Fillipo and the son Fillipino. Fillipo ran away with a nun he convinced to leave the church. Randy liked Birth of Venus in the Botticelli Room. Laura also likes that room. I am partial to the Rafael Room. We had lunch at a local trattoria near the Uffizi, and the we split up with R and L going window shopping and David and I going to first Pizza della Signoria, then Casa Buonarotti (a Michelangelo Museum), then Vivoli for more ice cream, then Santa Croce, The Badia Fiorentina (oldest church in Florence from the 10th century where David was treated to a Fillipino Lippi of St Bernard in the desert, (a magnificent piece). We then headed for the Medici Chapel for 7 Michelangelos most anywhere in the world. Then Ognissanti, my favorite church with a Botticelli, Ghiralndaio, and Botticelli's grave. The refectory was closed, however, where we would have seen a Cenacolo (sp ?), ie Last Supper by Ghirlandaio. Then I showed him the famous Westin Excelsior where Laura and I used to get suites for $79 when Cristina was the Reception Manager. Then we collapsed at the hotel, BOTH tired, even him !!! We are now in Lidia's store waiting for some customers to leave so we can go out for dinner. Chiara, Lidia's sister is coming with her son, Jacapo who is 4. He is very cute.

Wish I were there! My all time favorite museums there are the Specola museum with it's amazing anatomical figures, and Galilio museum.
I wish you both very good walking shoes! Love, Judy
