If I have to be on time for something that is very time sensitive I always leave it late. I estimate time based on the exact minimum it should take to get there. Our flight was scheduled to leave at 11:45am from SNG airport. I'm going to write about this bit despite it being boring...The MRT cards that you get here cost $8 plus $10 deposit, the card runs out at midnight the night before and then when you are ready you take the card back to one of about 5 stations and get your deposit back. Sounds easy, not so much because the nearest stop that opened before 10 was about 4 stops back from ours. We left the room at 9:15. We both had a random bag search of our big padlocked bags as we entered the MRT. We missed the first train, the second was too full. Got the third to City Hall, everyday we had got straight to the ticket counter no problem, today there was a queue and the woman on the desk was making no effort to rush. We eventually got our money back but it was now 10am. Got an MRT to near the airport, changed, missed the first connection and arrived at the airport 25min before the gate closed. We were absolutely bricking it. We didn't know what terminal to go to and all 3 needed a shuttle or airtrain to get to it. Luckily the airtrain was quick to our terminal and we arrived with 20min to spare. Flight delayed till 2:15pm.

Checked in and wandered about, got free wifi and downloaded Idiot Abroad, ate shitty takeaway. Apparently SNG is one of the worlds best airports, they all say that, it's good but it's not as grand as Dubai, until you have a botanical garden in your airport you're not even allowed to mention the world. Flight was sort of like a basic Ryanair flight only mildly more comfortable, it wasn't full either so we got our own row of seats. Arrived in Kuching in the rain and got a taxi to the hotel. The hotel is cool and it would appear we are literally the only people here, the bloke on the desk is cool as well. Sat in the room for ages trying to figure out our plan of action. Internet is shit so went downstairs to speak to the bloke, he misconstrued my asking about a cheaper room for our second night as bartering and offered me the room at a discounted rate, nice, good room as well.

Went to a food court on a nearby roof but it was all seafood so fucked it off. Ended up at Pizzahut, it was expensive and shit, the waitress laughed when I asked if they did half and half. It makes me want to punch people in the face when they are condescending, but that perhaps isn't the way forward (I still have a mildly black eye). I don't want to feel like I'm better than these people but they give me no choice. As we walked around the lifeless streets people were actually pulling up in their cars to say hello/leer to/at Charlotte, this I could understand normally but she hardly looks her glamorous best (I originally had the line, like a turd in a dress, but she'll read this and I'll get shit for it). It must be added I look like turd as well, but women aren't stopping their cars to wolf whistle at me.

Sat in the lobby researching long houses and booking new year, 4 days back in Singapore then onto Hanoi to meet Paul and Sophie, can't fucking wait. Longhouses (spending a night with a traditional tribe in a long house) can wait, theres loads around Borneo but it's difficult to find one that isn't possibly gonna rip you off. Went to bed at around 2.
