Where I stayed
We're on a tag team diary entry today again.
Alan:
Not been up to much the last 2 days except laying around on the beach, its a tough life this backpacking business. We're staying on Maenam beach on Ko Samui. The actual beach itself is very quiet and layed back which suits us grand. We consider ourselves lucky after driving by the madness which is Chaweng beach on the eastern side of the island. So yesterday was spent lying on the beach. Sarah Farell called round to us in the evening with her beautiful little 2 year old daughter Laura. She started out about 5 years ago traveling just like us but the beach lifestyle around here was too tempting to leave and so she's still here! Its not hard to see why as we had a few beers and a catch up while sitting on the beach watching the sunset. After a few hours Sarah and Laura went on their way. We grabbed some dinner and had an early night.
Today involved more lazing around on the beach and going in for a dip in the sea every now and then, like I said tough stuff. We're heading to a travel agent shortly to sort out the next few weeks itinerary. Its changing every day ! For example We hadn't actually planned to do the Full Moon Party on Ko Pha Ngan as we heard its quite a messy affair and easily miss able. Though after discussing it with Sarah yesterday she said we would be mad not to do it. Apparently its a thing you should do at least once in your life! Also we're quite lucky as it only takes place once a month and this months happens to be this Saturday. So plan is to head over there tomorrow and stay for a few days then on to Bangkok via Ko Tao. After that it could be Vietnam, who knows?
Rachel:
We're both getting a bit of a colour. We're getting burnt now and then even though we've got factor 40 sun cream. The sun is very strong here. We're also getting quite used to the Thai food which is different but really nice most of the time. Like at home we've had good and bad meals. The Thai people are very friendly and very respectful to others. You could never get angry at such mannerly people. We're getting into a good rhythm of traveling now. We acclimatise pretty quickly and usually have a fair idea of how much things should cost in relation to where we are. It's mad to think we're about half way through our traveling in south east Asia already. We only regret not having more time as there is so much that we will not manage to see. Well gotta go get some more delicious Thai food now as its time for dinner.
