Wow. It feels really weird to be back. We pretty much drove all day today, and only stopped for gas, food and bathroom breaks. We were happy to score Dr. Laura again, since it was a long day in the car. What a creep! We pulled into my driveway just as it was getting dark, and we sat there looking at each other wondering what the heck to do now. It really feels like we've been gone for a year. I wasn't expecting that.
I kind of wish we'd had a few extra days. There were some things I wanted to see that we didn't have time to see: 1. Roswell, NM (Allison really wanted to go there too) 2. Austin, TX 3. More time in Arches 4. More time in Memphis. Lots more that will occur to me later, I'm sure. The interesting thing is that I still think Missoula is the place for me. That's a good thing to learn!
Are Allison and I still buddies? No, I hate her. Kidding! Yes, I think she's the only person I could have done this trip with. I think we kept each other thinking positively when annoying things were going on. We both had different interests, and we had each picked out some places that we wanted to visit. But I think she liked mine and I liked hers. It will be wonderful to have her in my life on a regular basis again, just normal life in Missoula. She was gone for two years! It sucked.
Thanks, families and buddies, for all your help! And thanks for tuning into our travelogue. It was really cool to hear from you guys once in a while, and practically speaking, it's a great way to check in without having to make phone calls every day. I'm off for now!

Jenny

I can't believe our trip is over! In some ways it feels like it went by so fast, but at the same time it felt like we had been gone forever when we rolled back into Missoula. As we were getting closer to Missoula Jenny asked me what I thought I'd be thinking of the area if I was just coming here for the first time. For the next 10 minutes or so we amused ourselves by making comments on what we were seeing as if we were seeing it all for the first time. It kind of made me think of when I moved to Missoula and I was driving into town for the first time.

Ouch Jenny! Hate? Hate is a very strong word. Just kidding. I agree with Jenny, I don't think I would have had half as much fun on this trip if I had done it with someone else. During this trip when we were writing our travelogue entries I kept telling Jenny that hers were so educational and smart sounding, and that mine were...well...about food and blisters and 'noises in the night'. I think I leaned a lot about American history (and singers/song titles) on this trip and I credit it all to Jenny. If Jenny hadn't been here, who knows where I might have ended up!? (Probably at the 'Mike the Headless Chicken Festival'!!) Thanks Jenny, I had a great time traveling with you! And Thanks to Jenny's whole family for making me feel so at home the whole time.
To Jenny's parents and Mike- it was so nice to get to see you guys again and get to know you a little better. And to Amanda, Pat, Christina, and Brady- It was really nice to meet you all. I'd heard so much about all of you that I already kind of felt like I knew you! Hopefully you'll all be making trips to Missoula sometime in the near future so we can have another girls vs. boys Trivial Pursuit game! I'll be waiting...

Welcome home
Al and Jen:
Well, you made it! What an adventure. Neither of you will ever forget the adventure you had together, and how you shared it. We felt great having you here and being a small part of it; to give you some warmth and comfort on your long journey.
Your final entries and mom's today, gave me a lump in the throat. What a neat thing to do.
And a beautiful part is that you will always have the teasure of your memories of this trip.
As the old coach said in 'Chariots of Fire', We've got this!!! And noone can ever take it away.
