Nice meal last night and a good nights sleep we are up having breakfast before going to the Barrier Reef. Villa is great and brekkie (getting the lingo) was very good.

The coach turned up and off we went to Port Douglas where we got on the boat to the reef.
It took an hour and a half to get there. The weather was fantastic, sun all the way. Quicksilver crew came round all the time to offer us different options when we were on the reef. We ducked out of the snorkelling, me for obvious reasons and Alan because he didn't want me to photograph him in a lycra suit!

On the platform we went in the semi submersible and out to see the reef. It was amazing!!!!

Returned to have a fabulous lunch on board the platform then watched the snorkelers. Alan wouldn't have looked out of place in the lycra.

Also went through the underwater observatory where you could look out at a part of the reef and see some of the people doing scuba and "plastic helmet" diving (don't know what it is really called but you wear a plastic bubble helmet connected to an air supply and are then lowered on a platform under water to see the reef). Have taken lots of photos of the reef etc.

On the way back the boat slowed as they had spotted a whale and they hoped we might get a sighting. We didn't see the whale itself but we did see it blow.

Back at the resort ready for the Rainforest tomorrow.
