Still nearly 2 months to go before departure but almost everything is ready for our first leg.
We have tickets for all our flight sectors (£1080 x 2), travel insurance, a bargain at £280 for the pair of us, new digital cameras (£330), Palm handheld computer and foldaway keyboard (£232), 28gb sd memory for cameras and computer (£200), ultralight backpacks and contents (£500), total £3702. We have also booked accommodation for Christmas and New Year in Sydney because the city fills up at that time of year.
For those of you who do not know us, my passport shows the picture of a 61 year old guy (Is that me? Where did all the time go?) and my wife's portrait is of a spritely 56 year old woman. Retirees and empty nesters, we decided that a long trip would be a good way to get a slow suntan, broaden our worldy experience and maybe try a couple of bungy jumps.
What to take with us? Suffice to say that I shall be carrying a total of 13kg including backpack and the clothes I stand up in and Chris will be the lucky recipient of a 6kg pack. The only drawback to date is that it's been impossible to train her to carry the pack on her head.
We can't wait to leave home on 15th June.
