I head back to Alaska today, Saturday, and I have to admit that it will be hard leaving the sun and the warm temps. I have had such a ball!  Before the family arrived I played hard; the snorkeling was amazing as was the first scuba diving lesson.  I cycled and did a bunch of stuff with Lin.

Since the arrival of the family the fun stuff has been more for the group. There are a few things that have to be delayed for another visit but all in all I think every one had fun.

The boys spent most of their time in the water; the girls stayed on the beach or shopped or just relaxed.  All in all it has been an amazing trip!

My biggest problem here has been the loss of uploading photos to this blog.  I am not sure what happened, probably a Microsoft update, but I haven't had the desire to track down the problem.  So, when I get home, early tomorrow morning, I will sleep then check my other computer and see if I can upload the photos of the white-mouthed eel I saw, and the seahorse farm and the amazing Mauna Kea volcano and, of course the botanical garden in Hilo.

So I will update this blog after ending the trip tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to have a bunch of photos for you to see.

Aloha from Kona, Hawaii!  I will miss this place BUT I am excited about the possibilities of other GREAT places to visit or return to in the future. I think that I need to make plans for Europe.  As a child in Germany in late 1945 I have some heavy memories of a post-war torn country and I want to see its real beauty.  Plus I want to go by bicycle, that is truly the only way to feel and be a part of the country.

So I will get the computer packed and get ready to head for the airport.  Stay tuned for the photos, they will be added with a final update sometime tomorrow.
