SANTIAGO, CHILE. Craig & I arrived just in time for a great weekend where I have so many great memories and friends from having lived in Chile 10 years ago! Time to hang up the hiking boots and get ready for pisco sours! This section of the trip is all about people and good times.

Craig & I had an incredible seafood dinner with a B-school buddy - Chile“s own Juan Hardessen and his dentist wife Catherine. They left their 4 kids (all aged 5 and under) for a grown up nite out. Juan is a native Valdivian who has been converted by his wife into a Santiaguino.

A distinct high-lite of my trip was hooking up with a great friend from Peace Corps - Seattle product Duane Drummond.  Having lived in Chile for 12 years, Duane (between me and Craig in the foto) has married a Chilena and has 2 great kids. In a shock to the system, he is moving the family back to the USA. Wow - after 12 years, many of us will be glad to have Duane back state-side.

No nite in Santiago is complete without “mixing it up“with some locals. Craig and I hung out into the wee hours with Cristian & Chalo Parra. My Chilean brothers with whom I lived upon arrival in Chile in 1995. Then 15 & 17 year old kids, they“re now grown men! Nostalgia galore! We“re pictured here with them and some of their friends.

I was able to visit my Spanish profesoras (Mabel & Angelica) pictured on the far left with their husbands (Angelica es la suegra de la Sole). Also Cristian & Chalo and I paid a visit to Duane to meet his lovely wife Marta (group pictured left).
