Where I stayed
AMAZON: After Maccu Piccu, we flew to Puerto Maldanado, a gateway town to the Amazon. An hour by motor boat, an hour hike, and a 30 minute canoe ride brought us to the Sandoval Lodge in the Tambopata Natural Reserve. We spend 3 days here checking out the jungle wildlfe: tarantulas, black caimen aligators, river otters, monkeys, and hundreds of types of birds and insects (not to mention the lush flora). We slept in mosquito net bearing beds without the luxury of electricity - not fun but this is what getting into the Amazon is all about!
