Today we drove out of Italy. Our route took us back through Verona, and through some beautiful wine coutry into the Alps.

We had lunch in Innsbruck, Austria, which was amazing. The city was remarkably clean and the backdrop was truly majestic. IŽll post pics when I can (people are witing for the internet kiosk).

From there, we sped our way to Munich and visited the Concentration Camp Memorial at Dachau, just outside of Munich. What an experience - truly moving. Dachau is a memorial on the grounds of a former concentration camp. Dachau was the prototype for all camps of its kind, and was originally set up in 1933, shortly after Hitler was appointed Reich Chancellor. It was used a "school of violence", where SS members were trained before being serving in the other concentration camps. The camp historical statistics say that of the 200,000 (or more) prisoners having served time in Dachau, nearly 1/4 of them died. A visit to the memorial takes you beyond the statistics, showing you a small glimpse of how they lived, and how they died.

Our hotel in Reising was very nice, the Dorint Novotel. This was the best place we stayed during the entire visit. Local restaurants there in Friesing center (a 3-minute walk) serve excellent food from a traditional bavarian menu, and at reasonable prices. After being in Italy and eating bread all day, the platter of meat and potatoes made me feel like I had won a Survivor reward challenge.

Tomorrow we fly to Prague in the Morning and then on to Dublin in the evening. Hopefully, IŽll be able to add to this entry. So much to say. IŽll at least post one pic.
