On Sunday we headed up to Hahndorf,  up in the Adelaide Hills- which is the oldest surviving German settlement in Oz, we had a fabulous lunch then dandered round the streets, dipping into all the arts and crafts shops along the way.  Everything is available here including kangaroo belts, kangaroo rugs and even kangaroo salami!!  (They are very sore on the kangaroo)  It's a very popular tourist spot up in hills and very, very pretty.  Dutch then had to be walked and we took him for a dip into Brighton beach.  The beaches are just gorgeous here, lovely white sand and fabulous coast drives.  There are lots of lovely properties along the seafront with lots and lots of cafes and bars to stop off at.  We walked the length of the beach and then Dutch, Emma & I were thoroughly knackered and soaked from throwing balls into the water for Dutch.  Emma & I sat and had a lovely and well deserved chilled glass of wine watching the sun set over the beach.

Later that evening we headed into Adelaide City and to the Adelaide Fringe Festival.  Our first stop was the "Garden of Unearthly Delights".  It was  a bizarre mix of circus acts, street performances & theatre and lots of different eateries.  We headed for a performance of Jimeoin - an irish comdiean originally from Coleraine.  It was a good, funny show but he was really upstaged by the fireworks display that went off half way through his act and lasted 20 minutes, and really knocked him off his spiel.

Today, Sunday,  Emma & I headed to Mount Lofty, up in the Adleaide Hills for a spectacular view of Adelaide.  It really is a small and compact city but very easy to navigate round and negotiate.  Adelaide is very proud of the fact that it is one of the only areas in Australia that did not accept any convicts and therefore is that little bit posher than the rest of Oz.  Nevertheless, it is a lovely city, not at all intimidating and very spacous, open and green.

After that we headed to Cleland National Park, and it was on the way here, that I had my first truly Australian experience. With Emma as my trusty driver we were heading to the park when out of nowhere a lovely big red kangaroo bounded across the road, straight in front of us and just jumped up the bank and headed on its way.  It was surreal.  It's like something you read about and then it happens to you.  I guess I was really in Australia afterall!!!!

Onto Cleland National Part and this really is a treasure in Adelaide.  Here I had a chance to meet all the native Australian wildlife in their natutal habitat.(And they had a chance to meet me!!)  Kangaroos, Emus, Wallabies, Wombats, Bandicoots, Tasmanisan Devils and all the poisonous snakes you could want. And I even got to pet a Koala, they are so cute but constantly stoned out of their heads and very dopey - but still very cute.

In the afternoon we headed to Glenelg, which is a very up market beach in Adelaide.  Bundoran it is not!!!  It is a bustling alfrecso cafe strip overlooking the lovely Greath Southern Ocean.  This was the very first spot that the pioneers landed on and seeing it for my on eyes, I could hardly blame them.

Tonight, Emma & Nathen treated me to a traditonal Aussie barbie - which I have to say was amazing. Good food, good wine and really good company finished off an absoluely fantastic weekend in Adelaide.  Only bummer was that Nathan whipped our asses in Poker at the end of the night !!!!

And so the adventure continues and  its off to Sydney in the morning.  See you soon Maybelline......
