Well I have arrived in Oz and I have to say that the rest of Australia will have alot to live up to the meet the welcome I have had in Perth.

I arrived yesterday morning at 8am and got checked into my accommodation very quickly.  I decided to take a bus tour first, just to get my bearings, and my god this city is just gorgeous.  I am smitten - big time.  The city itself is quite small but has large sprawling suburbs.  Perth is the capital of the state of Western Australia, but is so remote that the nearest capital city to it is Singapore rather than its own capital, Canberra.  It has a very mediterriean feel to it, with about 6 or 7 large skycrapers but very cosy and compact.  I ended my tour up to King'sPark with magnificent views over Perth and the Swan river.  I finished off taking a tram round the old city streets.  I have lots of photos which I still have not got the hang on putting on to the blog yet but I'm sure that Mrs Kerkez in Adelaide will sort that out for me by the time I get there. I had my lunch in a pub called 'The Lucky Shag' which was kindly recommended by Keith Irwin and I have to say Keith, it was everything you said it would be in relation to food and wine....  Perth is just lovely and its has been a perfect start to my holiday in Oz.  Thanks to Elaine and Keith for recommending it as a start to my trip.

Green Folk
Keith whoever you are have a lot to answer for recommending such a place to our wee Aine. While reading out the blog I just happened to skip the words 'in relation to food and wine'. Good to hear you having such fun. Everyone sitting here slogging away over cases (paper cases that is, not suitcases) are just GREEN and all the females want to visit the Lucky Shag - just for the experience you understand!!!!!!!
