After thoroughly enjoying our time in Shanghai, it's time to head off to the capital of China, Beijing. We have a fairly smooth trip to the airport which is quite modern, check in our bags and have a coffee while the kids watch a movie on the laptop. The kids are better prepared with what to expect this trip and we assure them that a two hour flight is much better than ten. Our flight lands in smoggy Beijing at 1:45 local time with the sun out at 15 degrees. Our transfer to our hotel took about an hour as there was quite a bit of traffic around the inner city. Straight after our hotel check in, we head out to grab something local to eat for dinner. The kids are slowly adapting to local cuisine and culture which is great to see. We order a whole bunch of dishes which total 10 Aussie dollars and realise later servings are much bigger than expected, we've over ordered. As we walk around you start to see how different Beijing is to Shanghai, for starters not as many sky scrapers, many more tourists roaming around and it just feels like things are moving at a slighty slower here, but that's only first impressions at this point. We get to the hotel for an early night as tomorrow we plan to visit the Great Wall & Ming Tombs.
