Our first stop was the Legion of Honour in Licncoln Park. Not being art buffs we didnt go inside, but did see the Holocaust memorial and the American/Japanese friendship plaque.
From there a short drive took us to Baker Beach which offers great views of the Golden Gate Bridge, before driving over the bridge itself and stopping at the viewing area. Walking around the lovely town of Sausalito was a pleasant way to pass an hour or so before we headed to MotoMarin at San Rafael to meet all the rest of the guys and to unload the bikes.
After a few more hiccups the container arrived at 6-45pm and we set to getting the bikes out. The first view when we opened the doors was Chris's bike and mine lying on their sidesand a further look saw at least another 2 or 3 in a similar position. As it turned out Chris's 1200 and my 1150 were the only two bikes damaged, both suffering bent side-stands. Mine was pretty bad, to the point where I had to take a disc cutter to it and remove it altogether. Hopefully I can get it welded back on again somewhere on the road.
The only other things I can find wrong are a failed indicator bulb (I hope) and a loss of power to my satnav, which should just need a new fuse all being well, so I'll fix that in the morning before we go to visit Alcatraz.
Finally a word about the guys at MotoMarin which is in the throes of closing down. Never have I received such good service at a motorcycle shop. All the guys were great to chat to and to deal with, especially Gregg who stayed back until well after 8pmon a Friday night just in case we needed anything done to the bikes and I am very glad that he did. All the best for the future Carey, Gregg and Luca, people of your calibre won't be idle for long I'm sure. Thank you.
