I am trying to upload some photos to the website. Hope they post. There are a couple of Shoshone Falls, Mesa Falls and a teaser for Yellowstone…please enjoy.
Some observation/stories..I call them observastories:
We have chosen to stick to KOA campground across the country
Yesterday we arrived at Yellowstone and it was a little cool. Somehow in our heads we’ve been thinking that it is summer and the weather should be warm, right? We packed accordingly…tee shirts, shorts, sandals etc. Well, yesterday we woke up to 32 degrees and snow at our campground. Oh, boy! Time to find out how the heater works in this thing….2 hours later we had lift-off. By midday the weather had improved a little, but cold none the less. Sandy talked to a couple of ladies who had purchased gloves for $2…guess where we headed next?
We have found a great advantage to growing old together, particularly as it relates to Yellowstone. We have been here a couple of times prior with the kids. And the big activity was to see how many animals we could spot in the wild. They even provide sheet with “checkoff” boxes at the park offices. We’ll now that we are older, you cannot imagine how many animals we are seeing
While I’m on animals, I’ve come up with a great game to play at Yellowstone. For those of you who have been here before, the animals own the park. There are many large lines that are created as Bison or deer choose to cross the road. I’ve posted a picture of one such instance. So, people are always on the lookout for animals on the road and in the fields. Anytime you see someone stopped, you automatically stop to see what they are looking at. The game….make sure you have a couple of cars/RV’s close behind you, shove on the brakes, jump out the car camera in hand and just stop and look in the field. Within seconds there you will be surrounded by 30-50 people wondering what you’ve spotted. Slowly inch away from the crowd, return to your car and speed away. Believe me, this is a great game. I know because we’ve tried it several times. We’ve even created a point system based on people stopped and quickness in/out of the scene. Great fun.
Well, guess that all for tonight. Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks for joining us and feel free to comment on activities back home etc.
