The night had been surprisingly smooth -- in fact, less jiggly than the night before.

We woke to find us a ways off the coast of Mexico -- but steaming towards shore. Huatulco is lovely from the sea, a series of bays in the cliffs -- especially in the morning light.

When we went ashore after breakfast, it was already HOT, but we walked the couple of kilometers to the town of La Crucecita. Not much there -- shops, a square, a church (with an interesting, colorful ceiling ... and donation box saying, "This church is not a museum.")

Walked back to the harbour, and found a place in the shade (along the rocks) at the edge of the beach. The others went swimming, while I stayed in the shade. The beach was crowded with locals -- lots of little kids, who were fun to watch.

Just before 13.00h, we decided to return to the ship for lunch. All lazy, so just chilled for a while.

Then Paul and I went back on shore to soak up the ambience and have a margarita. We sat at a table just off the beach and watched (and timed) the banana boats going in and out (a trip lasted from four to seven and a half minutes). The margs were disappointing (and expensive) but we still enjoyed ourselves.

Huatulco is nice -- and probably even nicer if you get to the other bays ... but the more I see of beach towns, the more I appreciate Akumal.
