Well, that was a bit of a rubbish game. As me and Matt had booked at tickets some time apart we had separate seats in the stadium. I was with a load of Argie supporting Kiwi's, who clearly disliked the 'pommes'. Although England, I tried to do you proud, but with you playing that badly, it was pretty hard work!! Oh and they detest the black away shirt I was wearing. I find the best way out of a rugby fuelled arguement with a kiwi is to ask why there eyes are welling up.... then 'are you choking on something' so far its worked like a charm.
After the game, me and matt met outside the stadium, and walked back to town, and hit a few bars, started to chatting to fellow fans, and locals and the night started to get quite messy. At about 3-4am a few players from the England team came into the bar we were in, Matt left for the tent after we got pictures with man mountain - Simon Shaw. I stayed out with a couple of the people we met, and got pretty smashed (although I acquired a picture of me with Matt Banahan too!) and didn't wake up/sober up until 8am considering I was the one with the car key, and I was miles from camp, and we had to be out by 10, this was a major problem! Luckily I asked to lovely, amazing Kiwi ladies who were on there morning walk how to get to town or where to get a taxi and explained my predicament. They said 'you'll never be back by 10am!' and offered me a lift, which I gladly accepted!! (not all Kiwi's are bad!) after a half hour drive... I was back to camp, to see a very relieved matt, waiting for me. Messy night indeed.
After sleeping for about an hour and a half in the car, I woke up well on our way to Queenstown. I still needed sleep, but did not want to miss anymore of this stunning country!! We took a few pictures along the way, but the whole place seems to diversify in so many ways from landscape to town in such little distances, it really is breath taking. One moment we're in hilly farm land to places with funny looking rocks and valleys, to driving very windy roads next to lakes and gold mines in canyons. After a stunning drive, we ended up in Queenstown (Matt drove the whole way as I was still in Zombie mode).
Had a brief look round Queenstown a Beautiful Alpine town situated on the edge of lake wakatipu surrounded by mountains, it really is a stunning place. We found a motel which we are going to use as base camp this week, hopefully do a daytrip to doubtful sound, some jet boating and more. Went out for food, at a nice little Mexican place. Then I watched the first half of Ireland v USA, before leaving matt for some much needed sleep.
