We had some fun today seeing the northeast part if the island. After some debate, we decided to try the Segway tour of Barbados. We had to meet the tour at a church located to the north of we are staying. Thankfully, I found a map so I felt a bit better about our chances of finding it! We decided to leave early on the chance we became lost. I am so glad we did, not because we got lost( because we found it straight away!) but because we had some time to explore a bit. We drove to the end of a small dirt road and found some amazing views of the norther tip of the island. It was a breathtaking site! Also a little hair-raising because the cliffs are so high and the ocean so powerful! Robbie and I were a bit anxious about one of us falling so we were the cliff police!
After taking some great photos we headed back to meet the Segway people.
We chose the Segway tour because each of us was able to drive our own, even Robbie. It was the right choice! What a blast! The only issue we had was that I had a run in with my own Segway.
Less than 5 minutes into the trip, I was distracted by the beautiful surroundings and by making sure everyone was following along properly, that I did not see a large rock in my path and over I went, with my Segway landing on top of my leg. I was a bit squished and scraped but nothing major, except for the embarrassment ! The tour guides were so knowledgable and fun! The Segway's are cool and easy to ride( except for the goofy helmets but they are a necessity). The views were amazing!!!!
It is so interesting because the west coast faces the Caribbean Sea and the water is calm, and warm. The east coast faces the Atlantic and the water is strong and with powerful rip currents so powerful that swimming is virtually impossible there. We took so many great photos it will be hard to choose which ones to include.
The tour lasted about 2 hours then we headed back for lunch. When we returned we found the wonderful Marjorie had prepared the flying fish we have been hearing so much about. It looked amazing! I am not a fan of seafood but like to try local fare so I gave it a whirl! It was incredibly delicious! Rob and Robbie were In heaven ! Cara even liked it! We spent a bit of time hanging out and napping after lunch then decided to head over to the beach for a bit. The kids took a ride on BIg Mable, a couch sized raft that is pulled by a speed boat. Rob went along as the photographer and I stayed on the beach as my leg stung like mad in the salt water. The water was smooth and calm, the exact opposite if what we had seen earlier in the day on the east coast.
After leaving the beach, we had a swim in our own pool, which feels like a bath! The back of the property is like a little corner of paradise : private, pretty, inviting and comfortable.
we cleaned up and decided to eat out. We found Just Grillin, which was recommended by a umber of people and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. We finished off the night by viewing our photos from the day on the TV. The villa has an Apple TV. I did not even know what that was until we came here. It basically turns the big screen tv into the screen for your apple device so you can share pictures,  videos, watch movies etc together. It's actually pretty cool. Tomorrow we are off to swim with the sea turtles on a catamaran cruise!
