Today was first of 2 all- day park visits. we still had the car from our trip to Tampa so opted to use it instead of Disney's bus system. We headed out into the heat for the Magic Kingdom. We did some strategic planning and hit all of the big highlights.I headed off to get fast passes for Splash Mountain while everyone else hopped in line for Pirates of the Caribbean then I caught up with them. We really just waited in 1 long line for Big Thunder Mountain. Then, while Carey took the kids to Tom Sawyer Island, Joe and I picked up the fast passes for Space Mountain. Space Mountain has been revamped and is soooo fast. Emma opted out of it and was probably smart to do it since she is such a peanut. It was pretty hot but all but one of the attractions had us waiting in the AC so it wasn't too bad.
We hopped on the monorail and scooted over to EPCOT for dinner at the Coral Reef.Everyone enjoyed it. One wall of the restaurant is the side wall of the large aquarium. We were able to watch the sharks, rays, fish and even a sea turtle swimming by. The food was fabulous. EPCOT was open late so we decided to take advantage of the extra hours and grab a couple of more rides.
We managed to hop a ride on Soaring and the big "golf ball",Spaceship Earth.
We were pretty wiped by the end of the day and then had to face getting back to the car. It was quite a process. It was now 11:30 p.M.. We needed to hop a bus to get to the parking area then lines were 50 deep to get on a tram to get you to your lot. The kids were wiped out but we pushed them and ourselves along to hoof it to the car. Rob sprinted ahead( I have no idea where he found the enegry) and Joe was carrying a sleepy Emma. He thought he found a short cut and almost ran into a creek! Carey and I yelled ahead and he stopped just before it, thankfully.
The last part of the journey was the car ride home. Rob missed the exit then turned around on the median! It was hysterical, especially since there was no on the road, otherwise it would have been scary. Joe and I both thought it was like traveling with our parents when we were kids, you know getting lost, driving down closed roads, etc!!We finally made it home by 12:45, exhausted and planning to get up at 6 a.m.to go to Universal. We must be nuts!!
