The trip started off with the usual chaos! We saw deer on the hill as we left the neighborhood( they seem to want to wish us farewell whenever we start a vacation!) . At least they did not jump in front of the limo this time.
Then the limo driver missedthe exit for I 84. Luckily, Rob was watching because I was so tired I think I was already snoozing. Most you know I am not a morning person so leaving the house at 5:15 is a challenge.
We made it to the airport on time and met the Daddonas there. Joe and Carey used an airport parking service and took the shuttle over. The shuttle driver asked where everyone was going so Emma smartly answered to the airport!
The flight was blissfully uneventful as was the ride to the hotel.
The hotel and staff is amazing! We arrived prior to check in time but there was a staff member waiting outside to greet us and inform us that half of our 2 bedroom lock of condo was ready and we could go straight up!! We lingered in the lobby for a bit admiring how beautiful it was then wandered outside to find zebra, giraffes and long horn ankole cattle. Th kids were amazed !
I booked a standard view to save on vacation points and we were so excited to find that our room actually has a view of both the savannah and the pool! Actually more savannah that pool! So cool!!!
The staff informed us that people complained that it wasn't a savannah view so Disney changed it's status from svavnnah to standard. Works for me! I would request the same room again if I come back to this resort. The bellman told us it is one of the only rooms where you see okapi. Okapi is a strange looking animal with zebra striped legs and a brown head and body. Don't you know, not minutes later One was just outside.
We unloaded our grocery and beverage delivery, made a few cocktails to go, tossed on swimsuits and headed out! We went over to the neighboring Jambo house and ate, Then hit the pool for a couple of hours.
We had such a great afternoon. The kids( and Carey!) played pool games and We all used the waterslide.
We almost didn't want to go to dinner. We dragged ourselves back to the room for a quick clean up then headed out to a luau dinner show.
The food was great and the show was ok but delayed by a rain storm. We probably would have enjoyed it more if we were not soooooooo tired. Up at 4 out past 11! I think we all fell asleep immediately. It was a fun day but very long, still I wouldnt change anything.
