Where I stayed
Venice was unbelievable! What a fabulous way to end our trip.
We took a water taxi over to Venice then had a guided tour of the main highlights, which took about 90 minutes. I am not able to describe how interesting and amazing the city is. There are no cars, you travel by foot or by boat. There are bridges crossing the canals are covered with steps so it can be difficult to maneuver if you are using a stroller, a wheelchair would be impossible.
Some of the shops open out into the canal as do some hotels. They also have street entrances for pedestrians. San Marco square is very ,large and the church is beautiful. The front of the church is covered with mosaics that you would swear are paintings. Next was a gondola ride! I loved it ! The gondolas are expensive, about $40 US dollars for a 45 minute ride but what a viewpoint, definitely worth it!
The gondoliers steer the boats from only one side and manage to make the sharp turns without hitting the sides of the buildings. We grabbed lunch and visited the Doges Palace, including the dungeons. We took a ride up to the bell tower, 60meters up and had a birds eye view of the city. Speaking of birds , Venice is loaded with pigeons, thankfully we missed the bird bombs!
The city is beautiful and we would love to come back! See you all soon! Will load the pics when I come home and get to my laptop!
I had such a fabulous trip and will miss my new friends but am anxious to get home to the rest of my family. Ciao!!

Your trip went by too fast! Will be glad to see you when you get back! (:
I am so happy to hear how amazed you were too about Venezia. It is a city that I could not wrap my brain around it was so beautiful and mysterious. I could fee the souls that tread there. Have any coffee lately? Have fresh fish before you leave and fresh figs! Have you spoken any Italian? Remember "mi displace...I'm sorry. "Da mi un baccia qua"...give me a kiss here!
