Where I stayed
We made our way north toward Florence today. We stopped in Assisi for a visit there and a tour of the Basilica. It was one of my favorite spots so far! Assisi is beautiful, built onto the mountainside with amazing views! The streets are narrow and winding and very old. I wish we had more time here.
We had a tour of the Basilica of St. Francis. What an amazing place. The frescoes are beautiful and soooooooo old. It is interesting and a little creepy to learn how they just moved the bodies from place to place .
The tour was given by Friar Julian, a native of New York and was very interesting. St Francis's tomb is beneath and is visible when you go under the altar. The basilica was built in the 1200's and remarkably intact. We had a nice lunch of Pizza and Pasta, of course! I am trying to get my pictures up on this blog and am having trouble so I have posted some on facebook. The hotel we are in has wifi so I should be able to enter tomorrow as well.We walked around the town for a bit this evening, the weather is still holding, sunny and in The 60's-70's. We are going to Sienna and Florence tomorrow.

It's a good thing you packed extra pants!
I can only imagine what Cara must be thinking, reading about it and seeing it are two different things. I love your stories, they are great!
