I've come down with a wind invasion.  Luckily we were staying in Chinatown and headed out on an excursion to find some herbs.  Walked into an acupuncture clinic & herbal pharmacy and asked for yin qiao san & gan mao ling.  I'm sure they were thinking... what's up with the white chick in singapore asking for chinese herbs...
we spent the rest of the afternoon at the singapore botanical garden.  amazing.  breathtaking.  truly a lovely park.  in fact, Jenn & I agree it's the best part of this city.  we didn't have enough time, but the orchid garden was the highlight.  also had a midday snack inside the parks' perfect setting.  check out some pics.

we've decided to forgo the train travel and instead take advantage of the low cost carriers (LCC).  45min flight from singapore to kuala lumpur for $50.  So far we've seen that both of the airports have LCCT (low cost carrier terminals).  these are no frills type terminals.  in fact, we had a good laugh about landing in KL, walking out onto the tarmack (there are no jetways), walking into the building which looked like a high school gym, no stores, no music.  jenn compared it to herding cattle   =)   but hey, $50.  we flew airasia which is similar to southwest except there is even less order to the seating and even the departure/arrival times.  we were delayed 30 min, which apparently made us very lucky.

getting to KL was an experience.  first you have to buy a voucher for a taxi, then wait for the taxi and take a 1 hr drive.  ours ended up with a flat tire....  hilarious...   so by the time we arrived at the hotel we had a 5.5 hr trip vs. an 8 hr over night train ride.  our cabbie didn't have any music on either, we weren't quite sure if that's just a thing here.
