Okay, so who can pass up another awesome breakfast at Dunnes? Take two of freshly squeezed juice and bacon and eggs. Breakfast is the foundation of your day right?

It was relatively cold and miserable out so a nice warm breakfast helped motivate us to take on our final day in Barcelona. As we hadn't explored the Gothic Quarter as yet we decided to walk up the main road to the gothic cathedral (La Seu) and take a look inside. The cathedral is dedicated to Santa Eulàlia martyr, the patron saint of Barcelona. She was tortured to death in the late Roman period.

It was very dark inside, a complete opposite to the Sagrada Familia cathedral. Along the interior walls were little areas dedicated to certain Saints with a number of candles alight in front of them. Walking around the large cathedral was slightly eerie. There were a number of people praying in roped off areas and i felt like we were interuptting such private moments so we didn't stick around for much longer and were out in the cold weather walking towards the oldest Barcelona city parks - Parc de la Ciutadella.

In the park is the citys zoo, public gardens, lakes, a fountain and a wooly mamoth. As with a lot of homes in Europe people have to enjoy city parks as they don't have yards to use. We wandered the park and climbed up the fountain which had elements of the Brandenberg Gate and Triton inspired satues throughout. Unfortunately i wasn't the most pleasant smelling of places but the design of the fountain was beautiful.

We chose to have lunch at a place called the Attic on La Rumbla. The meals were relatively small and expensive but was just what we needed after walking around all morning. After lunch we walked across the street to the world famous undercover La Boqueria Barcelona produce market. This place was manic. People were packed in amoungst fruit and vegetables, meat, cheeses and other produce. It wasn't the best market we've been to before but it certainly was large and packed full of stuff. We bought some rasphberries and headed back to the hotel. We had been everywhere we wanted to go and done everything we wanted to do. Our time in Spain was drawing to a close.

We ate dinner at our hotel and reminised about our time in Barcelona and talked about our last leg of our trip - we are Paris bound! Hopefully we will have some nice weather.
