Today we braved it. The lady in the shop said the sea was calm and the rain would not bother us... Of course we believed her and went on the boat. Oh lalala, 2 hours going up and down the waves in the cold and rain without seeing anything - what a good start. People were getting sick and i nearly did as well. Fortunately the whales did appear as well as dolphins which made the trip suddenly all worthy. After that, we started driving along the highway 1 which is beautiful. Some part of the journey we couldn't see anything as we were in the clouds but otherwise creeks, rocks, rough sea - loved it. Would be great to come back hiking and camping. We stopped quite a few times to take in the scenery. We saw a beach full of seals. The smell was so strong and horrible. But what a sight - they look like jelly on top of each other! Never expected to see as many seals in one go. The hotel we booked is comfortable but we won't stay more then one night because of the weather. If the rain does not stop we will drive straight to Los angeles.
