Against all the odds, we made it to Chengdu (and only three hours late) but there are some questions in my mind that remain mysteries.

How could I ever have complained about the 10-hour seat journey on Finnish railways from Rovaniemi to Helsinki?

Was I stupid enough to think that a train carriage wouldn’t house more people than it has seats?

What is actually in your mind when you play “music” on your mobile phone with full volume in a crowded train?

What is actually in your mind when you play “music” on your mobile phone with full volume in a crowded train at 6AM while you clearly see that at least the two foreigners opposite you are in a deep sleep?

Do you understand what is the “No spitting” sign with a picture for?

How was someone able block as simple a toilet as the old trains usually have?

Would I be alive anymore if these two days had been really hot?

How full do the trains actually get during the Chinese New Year? No, wait, I don’t actually want to know.

How would we ever have made it without the baijiu?

At least it was a real Chinese experience after Japan, where everything is in order. And we sure did save some money as well!
