Where I stayed
Auba's, Kefalonia
Got up at 8 with Auba, showered, ready, and out the door late @ 8:30, drove the hour to grab Ana and we headed off to explore the south west section and attempt to discover the kewlest beaches.
I can't member exactly where we went, or in what order as it as I was driving.
I drove to Sami, then down to Argostoli which is the capital to pick her up
from there to Xi beach which has the famous clay that is used in the most expensive spas all over the world.
I stole some.
It was pouring rain.
I was soaking, and covered in mud, but my hands felt great!!
We then went up north and eventually after driving in circles found some random beaches and petani which had some wicked as waves.
We had been attempting to find this one beach that you have to climb down a bazillion stairs to get to but is supposed to be the best beach ever - this illustrius beach, was never found..
We drove through amazing landscapes, up and down, tiny roads which thank god where most deserted. the roads are HORRIBLE. slippery. it is like you hydroplane everywhere.
The car had NO power and I had to go up hills in second and I was lucky if I made it to 4th.....
I dont think I once made it to 5th as the highest speed limit is 60.
on the better roads I was a rebel and did 80, but that didn't last long.
Colin would LOVE these roads on his porsche. I kept think that.
These roads are sooo much fun, but would be sooo much more fun if the roads weren't like driving on sheet ice. add water to that..... and you skid around the corner.
The monastaries are nothing special... infact they kinda suck.
In the begining of this day I warned Ana of the Greeks, their maps and the fact that they made them out of spite to screw with us tourists.
She said that there is no way they could be that evil.
well, after6 hours of driving in circles.. she agreed....
we gave up @ 3 and I drove her back to Argostoli, had ice cream which was the best I have ever had
Mine was cookie.
mmmmmm
home made
So meeting Auba early I waited for him to be off work eager to hang out.
He had told me prior about the ruins from the massive earthquak in the 40's or 50's.
So he took me there.
It was sooo intense. It was amazing.
There are wild goats everywhere here and they were bounding through the village. We wandered up and through taking pictures and I saw small flat rocks from the ruins. I remembered Carolyn and how she likes rocks so I grabbed one thinking about how old it was and how someone from hundred of years ago and shaped it, and made something with it. So I shall mail that to her with her postcards.
We kept walked and found 2 large perfect circular stone platforms. one was for water, the other for "thrashing".. I thought thrashing was for grain, taking the wheat out bt... couldn't figure out how it was done or why the circle..
the eneryg was amazing.I saw Auba crouching on the ground watching Ants going in and out of the ground, taking pictures, observing and comenting on how they had made an actual path out of the debrea from going back and forth so much.I was so, over come by his energy, his gentleness, his compassion for life I realized although he was not at all my type looks wise I totally had a thing for him.DAMN YOU AUBA! YOU FUCKING SUCK!I could have hit him at that moment!Thats the last thing I need.a crushjust fucking great.
we headed back to the car and decided to find the monastary up the hill so driving up up up we chatted, stopping to see the view, and seeing a rainbow perfectly in the middle of the harbou. I learned allot about Auba and gain more and more respect for him. He will hopefully go and work in greenpeace, or as a sea shepard going between the ships in japan and whales to protect them or to palastine to stop the bloodshed. on a day to day basis he is a diving instructer, participates in any and all volunteer work to save animals, goes on naked protest in november to stop bull fights, and everything else you can imagine. Is he human? How is this possible? How is ANYONE this good?I didn't know they MADE people this good.are you for real?really not surenow if I wanted to kick him over the cliff for stiring up my oh so closly gaurded emotions or give him a hug I turned around, stalked off, and suggested we continue on.
getting to the monastary the gate was closed, thinking IT was closed we carried on hoping to get the wind turbine on the road with the small, no power car.The funny thing was, even though we were supposed to be meeting his friends, he never seemed to want to go back to meet them.
we made it a ways before deciding to turn back.
on the way back there was all of the sheep on the other side of the gate in the monastary and decided the gate was closed for them, and went in.
closer to the monastary as we were walking by there was5 kittens that came bounding out of a log for cuddles. they were little purr balls! They came running!!! They JUMPED ON ME!!! I had one on my shoulder, and 2 on me knees and I couldn't stop laughing and smiling and I was in heaven and I looked up and I saw him looking at me with that look that I'm sure I had on my face when I had the realization with the ants, or with the rainbow. And I was so utterly wrapped up in the kittens I didnt even care!!!THERE WAS KITTENS!!!!
Going out for supper I had the most amazing seafood pasta i have hoenstly ever had with some lemon water as my kidney started acting up due to the amount of straight water as I hadn't been able to find lemon water (cause I hadn't looked hard enough)
after I had eaten it got pretty bad (I think there was something in their water that set me off)
So I literally ran back to the house, slammed back a powerade and about 1/2 ltr of lemon water and paced in pain for about 45 mins, wanding until it abated, praying Auba wouldnt come home as I wasnt sure wtf to think about the day with him.
Hoping for better weather tomorrow
