Hi Everyone,
Some of you, who have been following our travels, will know that after being in touch, we have arrived back in Scotland nearly 3 weeks ago after our extended stay in Singapore. Life has been very busy since returning and Val has been fortunate enough to jet off west to sunny Cuba for 2 weeks. She has now arrived back in not so sunny Scotland at the weekend suitably refreshed, tanned and ready for work.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! after her 3 months (nearly) off..
Singapore stopover (on the way home) was not on our original plan but being the adaptable types we weren't too unhappy to change our trip. However, after 3 days we were becoming slightly concerned when full flights were still leaving from Singapore without us!!!! Contingency plans were being evolved on the Sunday 1st April but as luck would have it we both managed to scramble on flights to London that evening. Val flew standby on Qantas direct to London and then 20 mins later I was allocated a seat on BA to London. However, Val's flight was still on the ground when BA taxied to runway so did feel very nervous that she might end up stranded in Singapore while I was winging my way home. Her Cuban holiday was planned, booked and departing on 4th so timings were tight. However, 15 mins after my touch down at Heathrow, her flight arrived and we were re-united in T4 passport control area.
Flight to EDI was straight forward apart from a slight altercation with BAA security who were not allowing my NZ bubble wrapped sculpture to accompany me on board as a "second bag". Had had no issues with any other aiport or airline until we reched home soil - anyway ce la vie in the UK and with a few changes to hand luggage - Flying Angel with Bird is now gracing its own quiet corner of my living room.
Val could write a travelpod of her own re Cuba but suffice to say she survived a dental root treatment from a very professional local dentist.
I have been fortunate to pick up some temporary work with French Film Festival in Edinburgh. Great people, films, restaurants, receptions - c'est magnifique!!!!!
Anway we must must say the same about all our travels - equally magnificant...... fantastic friends and fellow travellers - stunning landscapes and exciting adventures.
Thanks to everyone who looked at our Travelpod, commented on the site and kept in touch. It is lovely to be home to see family and friends and back to a different type of reality.
Anyway here's to the next trip- don't know when, where or with whom but it will happen.....................................
