Friday 14th August

Drove to Brisbane, arrived by lunch time to a huge caravan park. Mostly made up of units, but a great little section for caravans. Most of the park had been recently renovated and was beautiful. Great kids park, great pool, great café. And very importantly kids could ride bikes, so pretty much as soon as we'd set up off Toby went on his bike, and spent the next while exploring the caravan park on his bike. He’s a good little rider now.

Today we needed to do some secretive birthday shopping for Lily, so we headed off to Westfield and somehow managed to buy Lily’s birthday pressie without her noticing (a Tinkerbelle beauty set). Found one of my favourite shops Borders with a Gloria jeans inside, aaaah I could have spent hours and hours in there. Bought a great book by the Four Ingredients lady called "How to write a best seller" it was a really practical book and really helpful to getting books out there more. I’ve written down heaps of ideas and will try to implement some for Milk to Meat when I get back.

Saturday 15th August

Today we had our first use of the GPS. Left Westfield Shopping centre (I needed a morning traveller coffee) to go to friends from Adam’s Arrow course. Set the GPS and off we went along the Motorway, a few turns, feeling like we were going in the wrong direction, but trusting in the GPS. Adam said wow there’s another Westfield, that’s close to the last one. I said wouldn’t it be funny if it was the same one. As we drove closer and closer, we realised it was in fact the same one. The GPS had taken us in a 30minute circle. I laughed (a lot) Adam - not so much laughter.

Met up with Dan & Anita Lyons at their newly renovated home, and then followed them to Mount Mee to catch up with Dave & Bec Hockey. Both of these guys Adam had met through his Arrow course, fabulous familles and had a great afternoon of lunch, wine and laughter. They both had 4 kids each, and so there were 10 kids under 10, but it wasn’t noisy at all. Most of the time the kids played with the hose outside (bizarre how you can play with water up here) and they spent a while trying to catch the chicken (tormenting them really). It was great to have some adult conversation, and to enjoy friends company.

In the evening Adam & Toby headed off to watch Lions vs Bulldogs at the Gabba. It was a bit of struggle to find a bus to get their. Brisbane bus system has its own bus-line (kinda like trains); they have their own separate area, which made it hard to find a bus. Ended up parking at Garden City & taking a taxi to the stadium & then a bus back. Average game, Lions didn’t play well & got beaten despite rallying towards the end. The club put on some great post-game entertainment, allowing fans onto the ground after the game for a kick, as well as a band stage, & handball competition, coaching clinic, & pics with the Lions mascot.

Kylie & Lily, were not so keen on the footy so we had a girls night. First, pizza at the caravan park café (yummy) and then movie (Madagascar) and popcorn in bed.

Sunday 16th August

Went to Northside Church, which was Duncan Brown’s old church. Was a great service, very friendly people. Met up with Ruth Limkin who is from our Arrow class, it was great to chat through with Ruth some church communication stuff, and Kylie sat in on their Young Adult Planning session. We were invited out to lunch with them all; it was great to chat and find out more about their church.

In the afternoon, went for a swim in the pool (again) to cool off, the weather is getting warmer and warmer.
